To Be Honest, I've Never Been Into Ongaku Gatas, But...
I had to think hard to remember the first two singles by Ongaku Gatas. Yattarouze! was okay, nothing too special if you ask me. I couldn't even remember the name of their first single (Narihajimeta Koi no Bell). It could be me getting old, or it could be that the songs were just so unmemorable. I didn't even consider buying their first full length CD, or concert DVD. And when the group began losing members, I thought "big deal!". Then a new single was announced...Come Together???
"Here come ole flattop, He come groovin up slowly, He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller???" That "Come Together"? What's going on here? I know Michael Jackson needs the cash...Did Tsunku get a deal on a Lennon/McCartney composition? I didn't even bother with the radio rips. But now the PV is here and...
I don't do reviews of every H!P single, but this one deserves a little love. It's a great song!!!
Something about this PV and song remind me of an old group from the early 70's called the "Silver Platters" Especially the choreography and harmonization. Silver Platters you ask? Come on' you know the group...
Marcia was hot!!!
Seriously, this single has a lot going for it. It has a slight retro early 70's rock feel to it, and the outfits are very sexy! I can't help but think that they are borrowing a little of Buono!'s style for this release. And why not? Buono! is the best act in H!P right now. It's a fun PV, and a fun song!!! My favorite thing about it is the dancing. It is simple, energetic, and cute! This might be shocking to say given the cancellation of Haromoni@, but I think H!P is putting out some of their best music in a long time right now! And Come Together is one of the best songs I have heard in 2008. So great job Gatas! And here is a little eyecandy from the O.G. I would most like to be stuck down a "rabbit hole" with...

Speaking of this Come Together by the way, while it doesn't really remind me of the Beatles song of the same name, it does remind me of two other Beatles tunes quite a bit... in fact I think I'll make a post about this. Can you guess the tunes? :)
I was just talking about the Bitch Unit earlier with wu-san and I came to the conclusion that if I was to attend the show, the setlist would have to be damn near flawless, and so it would have to not only include like every H!P track I want to hear, but also the whole Abbey Road album performed in its entirety. That's when I'd have to really start considering attending!
Realistically, I could see H!P covering a song like All You Need Is Love, something with the whole love thing prominent in it as that's usually the theme with the lyrics. I don't really see them covering something as trippy as Strawberry Fields Forever, hehe.
