Matsuura Aya and My Big Head!

You were actually in the background of a concert DVD?Now you make me want to go to Japan for a concert.I'm sure that would be an awesome experience.
It's great that you can see yourself on the DVD! I had hoped that maybe I might of been on the Wonderful Hearts DVD, but the camera didn't even come close to where I was...I was right at the back so it's not surprinsing, I was hoping they may have done one of them shots where they pan over the crowd...oh well, next time maybe.
I should be returning to Japan at the start of next year again, and fingers crossed I'll be able to catch another concert or two, although I'm not to sure how I'll go about it this time, I'm thinking I'll try and get a fan club ticket and try and get Ohta to get me a slightly more expensive ticket closer to the stage.
I'll have to rewatch the this DVD again and see if I can spot you guys in it.
So Slasha, when are you going? I promise you will never regret or forget it! I can't wait to get back!

Ohta got me my seats, if you remember back in November you recommended him to me, and he came through! Thanks Paul! My plan is to go again in January. We never know what the schedule might look like, but I prefer the big show so I can see everyone. But I do have another week of vacation (tentatively scheduled) in October, and I swear Japan is "calling my name" What I would hope for is to see two tours, even if they are in seperate cities (Shinkansen here I come!) Last year Cute and Momusu were in Tokyo on the same weekend in October.

The only thing is I may have set too high an expectation for myself by getting screentime in my very first show!

Ah it must be nice to whenever you want. It sucks to be a typical broke college student. The only time I get to Japan is when I will study aboard in Spring 2010 semester to study Japanese. Maybe if I'm lucky I can see a Musume concert. (Doubt it though....)
I'll soon post on Radicalipton's Blog a blown-up, enhanced screencap that occurred just before Chris's head that shows my forehead, glasses, nose and reverse Nike tam tucked in near Ayaya, just a few frames before Chris's dominant shot. I could not clear myself from the wota hordes as Chris was able to do.

But, think about this ...

What are the odds of getting images like this, and what are the odds that Chris would be pictured right beside (optically, of course) Ayaya, his favorite idol, during that precise moment in the DVD shoot? It amounts to nothing short of digital immortality, something that is just starting to sink in.

Strange, I had reviewed the DVD many times -- but the other night, I spotted my face, froze the frame, screencapped it and then kept moving, frame by frame. Slowly, Chris's head emerged, like a great dawn of a mighty sun, over the horizon of the wotas below.

None of this would have happened had Chris not gotten me the floor ticket. It was serendipitous, and since it was winter, very few foreigners were in Tokyo and Yokohama, and we were simply "it" in the arena that weekend.

There is a third Chris/Rad sighting during "Mikan," but it is a wide-angle shot from behind, pretty far away. Yet. Chris's towering presence was there, and I was right beside him -- complete with my Kagome tattoo that also showed up in the first glimpse of us, also during "Yeah!"

The Mikan shot also confirms Chris's accurate contention that he is, indeed, on the inside box shot. I am just to the left of him, back turned and arm extended, but less pronounced that the formidable figure cut by Chris.

No doubt the set design in Yokohama Arena was designed with crowd shots in mind. The videographers are quite generous. Chris, if you're reading, I want to place my advance order for January 2009 with Ohta for a seat, first five rows, near the circular walkway where the DVD shots were spectacular of individual fans.

I only hope they do not alter the set design.

In any event, I'm already saving for it. Hope Ohta can come through yet again.

Enjoy the immortality of it all.

Your looking at the "glass half-empty" Strawberrie! I totally envy you for getting to spend so much time there in 2010. That's not to far away, and I guarantee there will be cool things to see when you go. And I wish it was that easy for me. I have quite a few considerations to think about when planning my next trip. I don't have unlimited amounts of time and money. I just love this whole phenomenon so much I am willing to spend the time and money I have experiencing it. Hope to see a show with you in 2010. I might be back in the states wishing I was you at that time!!!
Thanks Rad!
Japan is such a great country I find the minute I leave I'm dying to go back again, if only the flights weren't so long if it was as close as the UK is to say Spain, I'd be flying over there to watch concerts as often as I could. Lol, there was one point the year before last when my girlfriend had to take away my bank cards from me, I found a cheap return flight and was literally planning on getting the flight going to the concert return to the airport and flying home.

Lol, next time around arm yourself with as many glow sticks as you possibly can, that way even if the camera isn't on you, you'll be able to see yourself glowing from almost all shots, lol.

Now that I have an idea where to get the glowsticks, you bet I will have them! From California, it is a simple, but long flight over the Pacific to Narita. When are you game to go back? I am pretty solid on January. I want to go again this year too. I was thinking of trying to make it for the August H!P show, but all of my Japanese friends and clients say the heat and humidity is pretty bad. Then I have the possibility of October, which is when I am scheduled for my next holiday, and there is no place I would rather go!

Kind of off the subject, but I remember listening to a great morning radio show while I was in Ireland called the "Strawberry Alarm Clock" on FM104. I thought Colm was an incredibly funny host (I believe he is on a station called 2fm now) Do you ever listen to him?

I bought my glow sticks at the concert, but next time I might pop down to Akihabara and get them as they were cheaper, the building that has @home cafe and the place where AKB48 perform had quite a lot in there at quite cheap prices, quite a good place to look. I was hoping to go again at some point this year to meet up with some other H!P fans but it doesn't look like I'll be able to get the time this year, so at the moment it looks like another trip out there at the start of next year, possibly another January visit, have to wait and see it may be a little later, although I want to get out there as soon as I possibly can, I don't know if I can handle the stress again of traveling at that time of year again, a mix of the usual bad weather and Christmas/New Years strikes at the airports had me worrying for weeks whether or not I'd get out there in time for the concert, I'm out there for sure next year just not to certain when...although I'd guess it would be at the start of the year, maybe go out there for my birthday in February?
Can't say I've heard of Colm, but then I only ever listen to 2 radio shows, for breakfast you can't beat the Chris Moyles show on Radio1, in my opinion the best radio show, so funny! And then in the evening whilst I'm driving the Geoff Show on Virgin again really funny at times.
