It's not that I don't like the song...

I am a big fan of covers.  It always interests me to see a new take on a classic tune.  I have never been into Pink Lady, but i do understand their important contribution to J-pop history.  Before I ever heard Morning Musume's version of this song, I saw the video of Pink Lady's remake.  While I like Momusu's version, I feel it is missing a certain edge that the original possessed.  That being said...

For starters, I DO like the whole grainy "disco ball 70's" feel of the PV, unless that is because it was lifted from some Fan Club members' cellphone...

By the way, all you Reina haters can bitch all you want.  Like it or not, Tanakacchi is the star of Morning Musume.  And she is great in this PV.  She fully embodies the retro feel of the PV.

Other standouts for me include Kamei Eri.  She is just naturally cute every time she gets a solo line.  Sayumi's "Pepper Keibu no?" line at the end was cute too.  But JunJun is fast becoming the most adorable member of Morning Musume.  That makes me so happy!  The Pandas were underdogs going into Momusu, and I am glad to see at least one of them succeeding within the group.  I really hope LinLin has a breakout performance soon too.

The bottom line is that I like sort of like their version of this song.  But I am more looking forward to the upcoming tribute CD.  Aku Yuu has such an amazing catalog, and my guess is Morning Musume will hit a "homerun" with at least a couple of songs.  (Hope, Hope)
